The 2nd installment in The Realm Shift Trilogy, finds Ethan, Gideon and Captain Bonifast journeying toward the Temple training grounds of The Order of Shaddai deep within the Thornhill Mountains. Mordred pillages villages and towns that had helped in the failed invasion by King Stephen of Wayland while the demon mastermind, Jericho, baits his own trap for the Deliverer of prophecy, preparing a betrayal so heinous no one may survive.

"The Realm Shift's intrigue is second only to its action!" -- Wayne Thomas Batson, author, The Berinfell Prophecies and The Door Within Trilogy.

"The Realm Shift doesn't just draw you in, it sucks you in! The story is full of mystery, adventure, danger and inspiration. I highly recommend it!" -- Brian Tubbs, Pastor, Sligo Baptist Church.

"The Realm Shift is written in a grand mythic type of storytelling reminiscent of Tolkien's Lord of the Ring Trilogy. It grabs the reader from the get-go and takes you on an intense ride through its thrilling, unstoppable trajectory!" -- Rai Aren, author, The Secret Sands.

"The Realm Shift is spiritual warfare as you've never read it before. An awesome book!" -- Betty Dravis, author, Toonies Invade Silicon Valley and 1106 Grand Boulevard.

“James Somers is one of my favorite authors. His pacing, creativity and the unique spiritual perspective he brings to his stories never disappoints.” – Jeremy Robinson, author of PULSE and INSTINCT.

The ORDER of SHADDAI Realm Shift Trilogy Book 2 eBook James Somers

I've read the first book in this series and am half-way through the second. I will post this review to both books since my thoughts are the same.

First off, the good. The story is paced pretty well and moves along just fine. There are no drawn-out descriptive passages.

So that's the good. All of it.

Now, the bad. That same pacing and lack of descriptive passages means there is almost no backstory here. We're immediately introduced to these characters and off we go. At one end of the spectrum is Robert Jordan or Steven Erikson(in particular) who have well-thought out, if occasionally burdensome places, races, events of the past, etc. Sometimes they can be a bit overwhelming. But here we have the exact opposite and it leaves the story rather unsatisfying.

Also, as numerous people have noted, the books are in serious need of an editor. I read about sword fights with "lunges and faints", and sentences like "Anyone remotely alert wonder why he was here." and "A had cannon fired". It's rather jarring.

I sometimes think the Internet has had the same effect on books as it has on music. The ability to self-publish books and release music digitally has been a mixed blessing. Sometimes bands that would otherwise not have been widely heard or authors that would not have been widely heard have found an audience. That's great. However, I also think this "democratization" has really lowered the quality bar of what's out there for both music and books. In a world where a publisher had to be involved in getting this book out there, it would never have seen the light of day, or would have done so in a radically different final product.

The ORDER of SHADDAI Realm Shift Trilogy Book 2 eBook James Somers Reviews

Awesome story and a good way to look at the struggle between good and evil. The story takes some expected turns and then some very unexpected ones, keeping you wondering whether you can figure out what happens next.
Good read. Wanted it to go on, but that's the way of all good tales )
The first book was a wonderful book with a fast paced storyline and excellent character development. The second book does not disappoint and I am eager to begin the last book in the series.
Cool idea for a story and really enjoyed reading it, but would have liked less violence.
This was a good read which kept my attention to know what was going to happen to the heroes next. I think if one likes swords and sorcery you need to read this trilogy. The read is a little dark but not overly so, or maybe that this the author's focus.
A most enjoyable book to read! The adventure is non-stop action with lots of thrills! I would not have enjoyed the experiences of Captain Bonifast, as he makes his way into King Nichol's castle, and his escape from that place. You'll definitely enjoy reading this book, as it's even better than the first book of this trilogy.
I am giving this book five stars for the story but would only give it two stars for the grammar. Like using wrong tenses, words that sound the same but are spelled differently like your and you're, threw and through. Also some words are completely missing. It's not bad enough to not read the book but was enough to interrupt the flow of reading. This series is great, Mr.Somers, but get an editor.
